Gardai are appealing for information regarding a serious assault in Waterford City last night which left a number of people with burn-type wounds.

The incident is alleged to have happened at around 11pm in the Dunmore Road area.

Superintendent Chris Delaney from Waterford Garda Station said a group of youths had congregated and a number of assaults are alleged to have taken place.

During this altercation, gardai believe some form of fluid may have been thrown which has resulted in a number of people being treated for what Superintendent Delaney described
as burn type injuries.

He has appealed to members of the public, parents or teenagers who may have any information in relation to this and who may have any social media material of this incident to make immediate contact with the Gardai in Waterford on 051-305300.
