Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information on a man suspected of firing gunshots in Co Wexford this morning.

The man pointed a handgun at two Gardaí and threatened them near the Gorey Hill area of Gorey, before fleeing the scene in a Waterford registered car, a blue BMW 318, registration number 06 W 1012.

Gardaí then followed the car along the Gorey to Carnew Road, and say the man fired shots at them twice.

He's described as 6ft in height and of slim build, and was wearing a long black jacket and a hat, with a scarf over his face.

The BMW was later found burnt out in Banntown, near Gorey, and Gardaí believe the suspect fled from there in a dark grey or black Skoda Fabia car, possibly driven by a second man.

Gardaí are appealing for any person driving or using the Gorey to Carnew Road (R725) between 8am and 9am this morning, in particular anyone with dashcam footage, to contact Gorey Garda Station on 053 9430690.
