Gardai in Waterford are urging people to be vigilant to a scam in which people have called to homes impersonating members of An Garda Siochana.
The warning comes as a bogus caller to an elderly man in Ardmore this morning, Wednesday October 18th at 11am, and claimed to be a member of the Gardai who was investigating burglaries in the locality.
He convinced the elderly man to hand over a sum of cash for safe keeping and left in a green Opel Astra with another male driving.
Gardai in Waterford are encouraging everyone to ask for ID from all unknown callers to their homes.

Anyone who saw a three-door green Opel Astra in the Ardmore area this morning, is being asked to contact Dungarvan Garda Station on (058) 48600.
