Further changes to the 360 Tramore-Waterford bus route have been proposed by the National Transport Authority.

This comes amid news last week that the Riverstown Spur was to be discontinued from the 360 route in Tramore, on advice from the National Transport Authority.

Further changes are proposed to the 360A route, which WLR News has become aware of this afternoon, Monday June 26.

The 360A route, which runs at 7.15am and 8.15am from Tramore to Waterford services the outer ring road, taking in Whitfield, the Cork Road, and SETU Waterford.

It is regularly a busy route used by students, workers, and frontline staff.

WLR understands that the National Transport Authority has instructed Bus Eireann to discontinue the stops along the Cork Road.

Proposed new route

Speaking to WLR News, Waterford Independent TD Matt Shanahan gave the details of the proposed new route, which is due to be implemented within four weeks.

"The bus will leave Tramore for the Ballindud roundabout, turn left and head over for the Six Cross Roads and come directly over the Kilbarry Road and service, according to the NTA, the housing estates that are already there."

This means that those who travel on the route for the Industrial Estate or the Cork Road campus of SETU will need to get off the bus near the former Waterford Crystal site and walk back up the Cork Road.

This move has been heavily criticised by Deputy Shanahan who points out that decisions are being made on transport changes before ground has even broken on the former Waterford Crystal site or the adjacent accommodation.

Commenting on the changes, he says he has been engaged in heated exchanges since this morning with the National Transport Authority and it is his view that they are not inclined to reverse their decision.

He said: "These decisions are being made in Dublin, you can be sure that they are not being made by anyone here in Waterford."
