Further rainfall expected across West Waterford

Further rainfall is expected across West Waterford today. There have been reports of heavy rainfall locally in West Waterford at a private station with over 37mm recorded.

Current predictions show 40mm is possible today according to Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather. Speaking to WLR News, Alan says there is a risk of flooding.

"There has been very heavy rainfall in West Waterford in particular overnight, with some local weather stations recording over 35mm of rain. We are looking at some more rain for the next few hours. It will slowly pull away this afternoon through to this evening.

"The heaviest of the rain should have passed, but there could still be some heavy showers leading to more rain on top of what has already fallen resulting in more local flooding.

"Storm Domingos is tracking to the south of Ireland, and it thankfully means we are missing the strong winds again that were heading into France and Spain.

"Once again we are catching the Northern edge of the storm unlike Storm  Ciarán, which didn't dump a lot of rain at all the way Storm Domingos has dropped, especially in West Waterford."
