Funeral details have been announced for Waterford hurling great Martin Óg Morrissey who died yesterday

Late of "Banna”, Kingsmeadow, Waterford and Mount Sion Avenue, he was a member of the famous 1959 All Ireland Winning Waterford Hurling team.

He captained the Mount Sion CBS 1953 Harty Cup winning team.

Aged 90, he was predeceased by his daughter Helen, father Edward, mother Bridget and brother Mattie.

Martin Óg is survived by his wife Brigid (Brid) and sons and daughters Eamon, Frank, Martin, Róisin and Niamh and their partners Val, Shellagh, Kim, Denis and Graham, sisters Bridie and Maura,  grandchildren Óisin, Eóin, Dylan, Liam, Harri and Maebh, great grandchildren Chloe and Michael, extended family and friends.

Martin Óg will repose at Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home, Johnstown, Waterford on Saturday, December 21st, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday, December 22nd, in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Without, Ballybricken, Waterford at 1.30pm, followed by burial in St. Otteran’s Cemetery, Ballinaneeshagh, Cork Road, Waterford.
