Funeral details announced for Avu Idris (17)

The funeral of 17-year-old Avuzwa Idris, who died in an e-scooter accident last week, will take place on Wednesday.

Avu, from Crystal Mews, Cork Road, Waterford, and formerly of South Africa, died in the incident in Waterford City the early hours of Thursday last along with his friend Gilbert Collins.

A Memorial Service will take place at Maranatha Christian Community Church, Poleberry  on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.

His Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at the same church from 10 am with removal at 12 noon to Kilbarry Cemetery for burial.

Avu's death notice states that he will be "sadly missed by his heartbroken family; father Fatah, mother Priscilla, brothers Mury, Nur and Adam, sisters Noora and Aminah, uncles Kasim and Yusuf, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends."

The funeral arrangements for 15-year-old Gilbert Collins were announced on Friday.

He will be laid to rest on Tuesday and will repose at Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home, Johnstown, on Monday from 5pm to 7pm.

A prayer service will take place at the funeral home the following day at noon, before Gilbert will begin his final journey to his place of rest close to his home in Ardmore Park, at Kilbarry Cemetery.

His death notice states that Gilbert will be "sadly missed by his father Collins (Bobby), mother Ronke, brothers Albert Collins and Marvellous Okin and his sister Precious Okin, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends."
