A Waterford Man will benefit from a fundraiser for his ongoing treatment. Conor Power had his right leg amputated in UHW following a serious illness.

Friends and colleagues of Connor Power have come together to organise a fundraiser to help him meet ongoing medical expenses.

Part of the proceeds will go to The National Rehabilitation Hospital, where Conor was treated after his procedure.

Speaking to WLR, Pierce Flynn from the organising committee says they are honored to be able to donate funds to the NRH.

"Conor himself will tell you that without the team at the NRH, he would not be here today. It is a great way for us to make a contribution to the NRH which provides fantastic facilities in Dun Laoighre.

"We are all delighted to be able to get together. We know the finances that Conor will need in time to come. One of the main reasons I got involved is because I had a health scare myself recently, and I could be in the same situation. Between us all, the Hotel and a few friends of ours are putting a good day together on August 13th in The Park Hotel, where we will have bands a great auction, fantastic prizes, and a great day.

Edel Lambe, National Rehabilitation Foundation Fundraising Manager says the NRH is one of a kind for the country.

"As people may not be aware, the NRH is the only specialist rehabilitation facility in Ireland that look after patients with spinal cord injury, brain injury, prosthetics and limb absence.  Conor was a patient with us, but he will continue to link in with us as part of his journey."
