People in Waterford are being encouraged to be tourists in their own city.

Waterford Treasures has teamed up with Waterford Credit Union to offer free entry each weekend in February.

It applies to the Medieval Museum, Bishops Place and The King of the Vikings.

The Medieval Museum is Ireland’s only purpose-built medieval museum and the only building on the island to incorporate two medieval chambers, the 13th century Choristers’ Hall and the 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault.

The King of the Vikings Virtual Reality Experience is the first of its kind in the world. The adventure takes place in a reconstructed Viking house and seamlessly blends cutting edge technology with ancient Viking house building techniques.

The Bishops Palace reveals the story of Waterford from 1700 to 1970s. It houses the oldest surviving piece of Waterford Crystal, extremely rare paintings, as well as a pair of Brendan Bowyer’s Hucklebuck shoes.
