Former Waterford shoe store set to become food outlet

A former shoe shop premises in Waterford City Centre is set to become a food outlet.

Waterford City and County Council has granted conditional planning permission for the conversion of the premises formerly known as Clarks.

The application from Geoffrey Coad includes the sub division of the existing ground floor retail unit to a new ground floor restaurant and take-away with access from Barronstrand Street.

The decision is subject to 13 conditions.

Clarks shoe shop closed its doors in Waterford two years ago after decades trading in the city centre. The premises had entrances from both Barronstrand Street and John Roberts Square.

Prior to becoming Clarks, the shoe store operated as Coads for many years.
