Former US President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100.
The Carter Center confirmed that Mr Carter passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia.
A Democrat, he served as president from January 1977 to January 1981.
After his presidency, he visited areas of Ireland on a number of occasions including County Waterford.
