The South Eastern Head of Focus Ireland says the charity is finding it increasingly difficult to provide support to families affected by the current housing crisis.
The organisation, which deals with those effected by homelessness, says that rising rents along with a shortage of supply in Waterford City and County continue to be major concern.
The recent daft dot i e report shows that rents in Waterford City are now over 8 percent higher than they were last year, and in the County the figure jumps to over 11 percent on average.
Regional Manager of Focus Ireland, David Niblock, says the situation locally is getting worse and that the government haven't displayed a long term vision on how they plan to tackle the root cause of the crisis.
He says the government need to act on their housing plans.
