Operation Intro was carried out by Gardaí in Waterford and South Kilkenny yesterday (Tuesday).
This large scale Roads Policing initiative involved the running of major checkpoints targeting intoxicated driving and other offences including Life Saver Offences.
17 Kilkenny and Waterford Roads Policing members under the stewardship of Inspector Paul Donohoe worked alongside 15 Garda Probationers.
The aim was to promote on the job learning and improve road safety for all.
According to Gardaí, four Suspected Drug Drivers and one Suspected Drunk Driver were arrested and a number of cars seized for no insurance and on suspicion of being dangerously defective, on which further inspections will be carried out.
Court appearances will follow for the multiple detected offences.
Part two of the checkpoints resulted in multiple HGV drivers being stopped near Belview Port with very high levels of compliance noted.
