Works are underway to further develop the Fibre Broadband Network in County Waterford.
National Broadband Ireland is rolling out a new high-speed broadband network under the government's National Broadband Plan, to over 1,600 premises in Ballinamult, Cappoquin and Ballymacarbry.
Under the National Broadband Plan, County Waterford will see an investment of fifty-nine-million-euro in the new high-speed fibre network which will enable e-learning, remote monitoring of livestock or equipment, e-health initiatives, better energy efficiency in the home, and facilitate increased levels of remote working.
Build works are also underway for over two-thousand properties in Tallow with connections to a high-speed fibre broadband network set to be available later this year.
Meanwhile, in Tramore, four thousand premises will be targeted for fibre connectivity.
The network expansion to Tramore will see over nineteen-thousand premises and over fifty-two-thousand County Waterford residents on the fibre network
Areas in Tramore which will benefit from the rollout include Moonvoy Valley, Glenroad, Mountfield, Strandhill, Somerville, Meadowbrook, Ard Haven, Main Street, Patrick St, Priest’s Rd, Westbrook, Newtown, and Carrigealea.
The first homes in Tramore will be able to order the new broadband services from April 2024, with the remainder coming on stream over the following months.
