Ferrybank apartments now set to include café and wine bar

A planning permission received in January of this year for the change of Briar Rose Bar at Fountain Street, Ferrybank has been altered.

The planning permission to accommodate apartments has now been altered to also include a new café and wine bar.

The original plans consisted of the construction of a new three-story structure that would provide five one-bed apartments, 12 two-bed apartments, and two three-bed apartments.

The development received a number of appeals.

Letters that object to the project were submitted by locals who cited insufficient parking, overdevelopment, building height, privacy, and right-of-way complications.

The proposed development will now consist of a new three-story structure that will provide four one-bed apartments, one less than the original frameworks.

The original plans for 12 two-bed apartments and two three-bed apartments remain intact.

A ground floor café/wine bar is now also proposed, along with the demolition of the existing public bar, restaurant, and retail unit
