FarmConnect, a six week health and wellbeing programme, will be taking place in Dungarvan and Dunhill from Tuesday the 20th.

It's aimed at farmers and hopes to reframe their attitudes through an environment that fosters social and emotional learning.

There will be four programmes run between now and Christmas, all co-ordinated by Men’s Development Network.

The programmes will run simultaneously in the Dungarvan Park Hotel and Dunhill's Eco Education Centre.

It will cover four FARM themes - Fitness, Awareness, Resilience, and Meithal - meaning community support.

It comes after research has shown that health and wellbeing plays a key role in safety on farms.

"To date, farm safety has focused on the mechanics of farming and things to do with farm yields and the production side of it," Claire Thoma, FarmConnect's programme co-ordinator, said.

Claire says FarmConnect are taking an entirely new approach by focusing on the individual because "the number one asset the farm business is the farmer."

Participants will get advice on a work/life balance, safer practices, healthy habits, and reducing stress.

FarmConnect and Men's Development Network are keen on getting farmer's feedback at the end of each six week block.

There are still places available on FarmConnect's six week pilot programme.

They can be booked through the FarmConnect website or the Men's Development network website.

The programme takes place every Tuesday and runs for two hours.
