Following reports to Waterford City and County Council regarding water quality at the Passage East dock in Co. Waterford, Waterford Council has dispatched an Environmental Scientist to investigate reports of a substance in the water.

A post circulated in the 'Dunmore East Ireland' Facebook Group, appears to show a white substance in the Water as pictured below which was posted in recent days.

Some users took to the page saying the substance is from adjacent factories on the River Suir/Barrow, however, this is yet to be confirmed to WLR News.

Waterford Council confirmed to WLR News that an Environmental Scientist has been appointed to investigate the water in the locality.

WLR has reached out to several industrial facilities in the area for comment.
