Emergency services in Waterford rescued a person from the River Suir after responding to reports of a person entering the water from Rice Bridge this morning.

The incident took place shortly after 11am and emergency services responded to the scene.

A member of Waterford City River rescue told WLR that the person was rescued from water by the fire department and handed over to ambulance services.

The report was stood down at 11:30am, and the person has since been transferred to UHW for checks.

The incident marks the second such time a person has entered the River Suir in the past 24 hours.
