Extended 8am to 8pm cardiac care seven days a week has been implemented at University Hospital Waterford (UHW).
The new operating hours took effect as of yesterday Tuesday March 18th.
In a statement to WLR News, the HSE described this as “an important milestone for the cardiology service of University Hospital Waterford and for the South East region”.
“It means that our on-call service is now extended from five days a week (8am – 8pm) to a 7 day (8am – 8pm) service including Bank Holidays,” the statement added.
While welcoming this development, campaigners have reiterated the need for a full 24/7 service.
