Eggs and Stones being hurled at cars in Tramore - Local Councillor issues warning

Drivers in Tramore are being advised to remain cautious following acts of alleged criminal damage. Councillor Eamon Quinlan says residents have reported youths are allegedly damaging moving vehicles in the town.

It's understood a group of youths have been throwing eggs and stones at moving vehicles on the ring road near the Monvoy Valley estate.

Cllr. Quinlan spoke to WLR News about the incident.

"This type of incident should be passed up to the Gardaí, because while I suppose we would all have an aversion to people drinking in graveyards and cemeteries, throwing stones and eggs at passing cars that are driving past, that obscure the vision or panic the driver, is an incredibly dangerous thing to do.

"I'm aware that it's been going on in the Ring Road and Crobally Heights area of Tramore."

One resident of the town spoke to WLR saying she has witnessed one group of youths in particular who are allegedly perched up on a green area on the ring road, pelting moving vehicles with eggs and stones.

In response to WLR, Gardaí confirmed they did receive a call out relating to a similar incident.

"Gardaí in Tramore received a report of a number of individuals throwing eggs in the Ring Road area shortly after 9:00 pm on Wednesday 14th August 2024.

"A patrol of the area was conducted by Gardaí but no individual was identified in connection to the alleged incident."
