Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the pilot who died in last week’s plane crash in County Waterford.

Gardaí are said to be liaising with Interpol in a bid to find the family of the man who died in Thursday’s crash at Lisselan near Waterford Airport.

The privately owned Vulcanair P68C was travelling from Sligo to Béziers in Southern France when it turned around off the south coast and approached Waterford Airport.

Emergency responders, including Rescue 117, Gardaí, the Fire Service and Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene after the crash occurred at approximately 12:50pm.

Members of the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) of the Department of Transport attended the scene to carry out an inspection.

The wreckage was transferred to their facility in County Meath.
