At approximately 7.15am this morning, a group of swimmers near the Guillamene in Tramore came to the rescue of a solo swimmer in the water.
He found himself in difficulty, having misjudged the sea conditions.
Speaking to WLR News, Chair of Water Safety Ieland, Waterford, Lola O'Sullivan says the man did not require medical attention and climbed up the cliff to safety.
She added: "Lucky for him, there were some regular early morning swimmers who were able to help him and come to his aid."
According to Lola, the sea conditions this morning looked calm to the eye but underneath, the conditions were deceiving and could pose a risk to solo swimmers.
