Green Party leader Eamon Ryan is expected to make an announcement shortly after 12:30 P: M today.
Mr Ryan, is also the Climate, Environment, Communications and Transport Minister. He has led the party since 2011.
It was suspected Mr. Ryan would step down as leader following a poor result for the Greens at the recent local and European elections.
It is understood Mr. Ryan will retain his role as minister once he steps down as party leader.
