€1 million granted to Waterford piers and harbours

Over €1 million in funding has been announced for investment in piers and harbours in Waterford.

Of that, almost €600,000 has been approved for three brand new development projects in the county.

The Minister for the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, made the announcement under the Local Authority Infrastructure Scheme.

The new developments are in Dungarvan, Helvic and Tramore.

€149,820 has been allocated for the replacement of sections of the concrete slab at Dungarvan Harbour wall.

Almost €250,000 will be used for repair and reconstruction work at Tramore Pier.

While reconstruction works at Helvic Pier will receive €187,275.

A further €500,000 is also being provided for two previously approved projects at Cheekpoint Pier and Passage East Pier and slipway.

The extra funding was sought because of cost increases.
