The Dungarvan Agricultural Show is back again this year with more exciting events for people of all ages.

Kicking off today in Ballygagin Dungarvan, families are welcome to explore all sections, including the equine, sheep, cattle, dog, and home industries sections.

A free shuttle bus service will run from the Council Car Park on Davits Quay opposite Country Life to the event.

Margaret Browne, who is involved in the home industries section at the show, spoke to WLR about what can be expected throughout the day.

“The park and ride will operate from the council staff car park in town. It’s a local setup in Lincardona — thanks to James O’Donoghue for organising it. It’s free for everyone, which is a great bonus. People can come out, relax, and even enjoy a bottle of beer this year, as we’ve added a bar.

“We missed the event for a few years, but it’s back and brings a nice social element. Around the bar area, there’ll be plenty of music. Last year’s line dancing was such a hit that we’re bringing in jiving again this year.

“In the Home Industries section, we’ll have the usual colourful displays: photography, art, baking, craft, flowers, eggs, and jam. We’re especially proud to have national qualifiers in vegetables, children’s Lego, and baking. There are also new classes this year.

Claire Connors, who is involved in the equine and cattle section, also spoke about what is on offer.

“We now have three show jumping arenas, and we’ll be maintaining the surfaces carefully to keep them in top condition. We’ve had fantastic local sponsorship from O’Flynn’s, Mead’s, Fennell’s Garage, and Thielen’s Hardware. Their support covers everything from newcomer classes to the Grand Prix.”

WLR will broadcast live from the event from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
