Gardaí are reminding the public that speed checkpoints are continuing to take place across Waterford.

It comes after a driver was detected driving significantly above the speed limit in Waterford City.

While conducting a speed checkpoint in Waterford City this week, Gardaí detected the driver travelling at at 175km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The driver was stopped by Gardaí and arrested, and has now appeared before the courts.
