Marcus O’Neill (34) remains in custody in Cloverhill Prison, charged with the murder of Tramore woman, Gillian Curran.

Representing the accused, solicitor Mr. Kenneth Cunningham reminded the court that his client has been in custody since January 28th.

Since that period, the court has been awaiting the completion and production of the Book of Evidence.

On Tuesday, May 27th the accused appeared before Waterford District Court via videolink.

Sergeant Hickey from Waterford Garda Station said formal directions are being awaited from the Direction of Public Prosecutions.

The directions, he advised, are surrounding the intended location for a forthcoming trial, as opposed to the charges themselves.

Last month, Marcus O’Neill informed the court that he feels safer in custody than back in Waterford.

At the time, he referenced the printing of his name in news articles and headlines as a cause for feeling unsafe.

He will appear via videolink before the court on June 17th with the intention of finalising the matter.
