Dog abandoned at Ferrybank groomers

Dog abandoned at Ferrybank groomers

A Ferrybank dog grooming parlour took to social media at the weekend to seek information about a dog abandoned at its premises.

The dog was dropped off at 'Time to Paws' for an appointment but was never collected.

'Time to Paws' said on Facebook: "The man in question gave his contact details but could not be reached. We were left with no option but to contact Ferrybank Garda Station, who advised us accordingly. The following morning, we contacted the relevant authorities and had the dog scanned for a microchip but unfortunately he was not chipped. We were advised that, by law, once 24 hours passed we were obligated to report the matter to the local dog shelter, as the dog is now deemed as being abandoned by the owner and possibly stolen. We did this with heavy hearts but please understand we had no choice."

The grooming parlour added that it has been made aware of a scam targeting groomers.

'Carlow/Kilkenny Dog Shelter' also sought information on the dog on its Facebook page.

"Due to the volume of messages we have received about this little dog we cannot respond to each individually. He is not currently available for adoption but will be after Thursday 1st February if not reclaimed by an owner," the post said. "We also have other terriers at the shelter who have had no home offers. If genuinely interested in adopting any of our dogs please call us on 059-9726785 during opening hours to discuss."
