A derelict site in the heart of Waterford is now the subject of a residential planning application.
The Showboat on the Glen, together with the property at 17. The Glen are under the ownership of company Celtic Showboat Ltd.
Company director, Mr. Quoqing Wu, together with shareholders Danyang Lu, Colm Wu, and Hongbo Song have requested permission to demolish the two properties on the Glen in Waterford city.
The proposed development will consist of the complete demolition of the house, the now derelict pub, and the associated snooker halls and outbuildings.
In its place, it is proposed that a multi-storey residential development would be built.
38 apartments in five blocks ranging from two-storeys to five-storeys are proposed, together with the creation of two new laneways opening from James Street.
Additionally, permission is requested for a two-storey commercial unit of 203sqm.
Mr. Quoqing Wu is the director of 31 other active Irish companies, he previously held an additional 19 other directorships, and was the director of five now-insolvent companies.
A commercial judgement is held against Celtic Showboat Limited by Waterford City & County Council for a sum of €36,932.
WLR reported last month that The Showboat had been added to the list of derelict sites in Waterford.
