The Deise Mens Shed organisation will be honoured with a Mayoral Reception in City Hall today.
The event, which takes place at midday, will be led by the Metropolitan Mayor, Councillor Jason Murphy.
The men’s shed movement originally started in Australia with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association forming in 2011.
Mayor Murphy told WLR News that the group are being honoured in recognition of their work in the community.
"The importance of communicating with other people in person really came to the fore during the pandemic, and the Deise Men's Shed do a fantastic job in filling that space. They combat things such as isolation and loneliness in a non-judgmental way. They never turn away anyone and they do fantastic work for the community. It's very hard to even outline all the things they do, they need to be honoured as the organisation has gone from strength to strength. It makes me very proud to say that the Deise Men's Shed is one of the foremost men's sheds in the country."
