Death of Waterford businessman Peter Queally

The death has occurred of well-known businessman Peter Queally of Kill, County Waterford.

Peter and his brother John set up Dawn Meats with their partner Dan Browne in 1980 and it grew to become one of Europe’s largest privately-owned agri companies, with a turnover in excess of €2.5 billion and a workforce of nine and a half thousand, including over 1,200 in Waterford and the South East.

Peter and John also established the Arrow Group of Companies in the early 1980s.

In February 2020, the brothers were named as Waterford Ambassadors of the Year at the Waterford Business Awards.

Commenting at the time, CEO of Waterford Chamber Gerald Hurley said both men had "dedicated their lives to both their families and their businesses and are synonymous with the food and agriculture sector not just in their native Waterford but nationally and internationally."

Businessmen John and Peter Queally being presented with the accolade of Ambassador of the Year at the Waterford Business Awards in February 2020 by Jonathan Earl, Waterford Chamber President.

Funeral arrangements for Mr Queally will follow. May He Rest in Peace.
