
The death has occurred of former Councillor Melissa O’Neill.
She served as a Sinn Féin representative, and later an Independent representative, on the Piltown District of Kilkenny County Council from 2014 to 2019.
A native of Bruff, Co. Limerick, she resided at Abbeylands, Ferrybank.
Melissa’s death occurred on Monday, aged 54 years, with her death notice stating she died peacefully in the tender care of her loving family and all the staff at The South East Palliative Care Centre, Oak Ward, University Hospital Waterford.
She was predeceased by her parents Paddy and Mary and “will be sadly missed by her son Shane, daughter Chloe, grandson Leo, Shane’s Dad Michael, brothers Richard and Pat, sisters Yvonne, Shirley, Maria, Sandra and Fiona, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.”
Melissa will be reposing in Power’s Funeral Home, Ferrybank on Wednesday from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.
Melissa’s removal will take place on Thursday, walking from her home to The Sacred Heart Church, Ferrybank, arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am, after which she will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
