Dawn Meats says the increase in cases in Waterford is down to community transmission.
The Waterford based company has written to Waterford Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane saying that speculation about where the cases originated is inaccurate.
According to the letter, the HSE confirmed to Dawn that the recent rise in cases in Waterford did not originate in their facility and has been classified as community transmission.
The HSE had told them that their approach has been entirely consistent with public health advice.
Dawn told Deputy Cullinane that they are concerned that recent comments could lead to workers and their families being victimised and create an environment where people are made to feel embarrassed for testing positive, when instead they should be supported.
Chief Executive Niall Browne said he finds the idea of the child of one of their staff being teased in a playground or blamed for the rise in Covid-19 shocking, and something we should do everything in our power to avoid.
He went on to say that public concern is understandable they have implemented comprehensive measures to protect staff in Grannagh since March and review them daily.
He said it's worth nothing that the authorities have commended their internal track and trace procedures and that any staff member who may be obliged to self-isolate will continue to be paid.
