A Waterford TD has spoke out against his exclusion from a meeting related to the future of the North Quays project.

Sinn Fein's David Cullinane was the only loca Oireachtas member who wasn't invited to the recent meeing, which was attended by local TDs and Senators including Mary Butler, John Cummins and Independent TD Matt Shanahan.

Deputy Cullinane says that Waterford Oireachtas members worked on a cross party basis during the lifetime of the previous government.

Meanwhile Independent TD, Matt Shanahan, who attended the meeting says Deputy Cullinane can't expect to have been invited.

"David Cullinane has  name checked me several of times where I have supported Government but not when I haven’t. I have no formalised role in supporting Government but I have been proactive in trying to ensure stability and represent Waterford unconnected with party politics.

Deputy Cullinane has highlighted his opposition to Government many times, votes against them on all issues."

Deputy Shanahan says David Cullinane and his Sinn Fein party are capable of looking after themselves.

He says he (Shanahan) cannot dictate who is invited to such meetings.
