Cyclist knocked down in Manor Street's new cycle lane

Waterford City & County Council are in the process of replacing up to 30 missing bollards along Manor Street.

The new system was implemented to facilitiate bicycle lanes as part of Waterford's Active Travel Plan.

Gardaí have confirmed a cyclist was involved in a collision with a vehicle in the cycle lane last Wednesday, March 8.

It's understood this occurred when a driver entered the cycle lane through an opening left from a missing bollard.

Gardaí have said the cyclist was uninjured.

Following this, calls have been made by local cycling groups for better cycling infrastructure.

Waterford City & County Council have confirmed they are in the process of replacing the bollards.
