Gardaí in Waterford are appealing for information after a fire was started maliciously at Waterford IT in the early hours of this morning.
Officers received a call at around 3am to assist the fire service as there was smoke coming from a building on campus on the Cork Road.
When Gardaí arrived, the fire service were extinguishing a blaze inside.
CCTV was viewed and a suspect was observed in the area at 2.36am exiting onto Paddy Browne's Road via the rear of WIT and then turning left.
The Scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
The damage amounted to a broken window and smoke damage.
Gardaí are seeking anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around this time, or who may have dashcam footage, to contact them on 051-305300.
