A Waterford court has heard that the book of evidence will be served in the case of a fatal stabbing in Dunmore East later this month.

Jack Power, a fisherman from Brownstown, was found with a stab wound in the village in the early hours of the 26th of July last year. He died in hospital a short time later

Dean Kerrie, with an address in Portarlington, Co Laois, appeared before a sitting of Waterford District Court today in connection with the fatal stabbing last summer.

The 18-year-old was charged with the murder of 25-year-old Jack Power in Dunmore East last Wednesday.

At Waterford District Court this afternoon Garda Sergeant Michael Hickey said the book of evidence will be served on the 30th of July.

Mr Kerrie’s solicitor Hilary Delahunty told the court that a bail application is being made to the High Court this coming Thursday.

Judge Kevin Staunton remanded Mr Kerrie in custody to appear in the District Court for Tuesday 30th of July.
