The absence of public toilets in Dungarvan has been highlighted during this peak tourist season.
Councillors expressed concern at the July Dungarvan/Lismore District meeting of Waterford Council.
Labour's Thomas Phelan called for an update on calls for the provision of public toilets, as did Sinn Fein's Conor McGuinnnes who suggested council officials in Dungarvan could learn from towns in East Cork.
"I ask that we reach out to our colleagues in Midleton and Youghal to talk to their officials to see how they do it," he said.
"It can't be all that difficult to have public toilets in a town the size of Dungarvan - Youghal has three."
Last year, it emerged that it would cost €135,000 to provide a public toilet in Dungarvan.
The current condition of Lismore's public toilets has also been pointed out by Sinn Fein's Donnchadh Mulcahy.
He described the current toilets as "unsanitary" and called for replacements.
