Councillor labels Tidy Towns thieves "thugs"

Councillor labels Tidy Towns thieves "thugs"

Fine Gael Cllr Liam Brazil has stated that those who robbed the Stradbally Tidy Towns Group of their equipment should be brought to justice.

The Copper Coast village fell victim to the robbery in July.

The matter was discussed at the most recent Comeragh district meeting with Cllr Brazil branding the people who stole the equipment as "thugs".

"It happened on the Sunday of the All Ireland final and also the same day, they were unveiling a seat for the late Fr. Jerry Condon."

Cllr Brazil praised the work being done in Stradbally whilst lambasting those responsible.

"Stradbally Tidy Towns are doing fantastic work. They're always up there with top of the marks every year," he said.

"And for some thugs to come and take their equipment, I think is a shame."

"The people should be brought to justice."

Current Cathaoirleach of Comeragh District Council and fellow Fine Gael Councillor Seánie Power supported his comments.

Cllr Brazil has appealed for anyone with information to come forward to An Garda Síochána.
