There are calls for an independent electrical contractor to review Dungarvan's Christmas lights.
Labour Councillor Thomas Phelan raised the issue at Waterford Council's January Dungarvan/Lismore District meeting,
He expressed concern at the amount of lights which weren't working despite the money which had been spent by the Council.
"The problems were surprising this year given that it was relatively mild weather wise compared to previous years when there was damage due to storms, but moreso given the amount of money that was spent on lights," he said.
He said he wants an independent contractor to "provide a report on whether the expected longevity has been achieved," and to tell them "how long we can expect out of the current remaining stock."
Councillor Phelan says the electrician should be independent as they will have "no skin in the game" if that is the case.
