Waterford Council say they will do their best to ensure minimum traffic disruption due to works on the UHW roundabout and
the Dunmore to Williamstown road.
The works on the Outer Ring Road are being undertaken by Bord Gais to bring a new gas supply into the hospital.
Fianna Fail Councillor Adam Wyse says any delay in this area is of huge concern but the council are trying to come up with a solution to the problem.
He said he had huge representations from people living in the area who have experienced huge delays and tailbacks.
The Council say they are very conscious of the potential for serious traffic disruption at peak times once the holidays are over and would be hoping that the most of the works would be finished before the schools return later this month and that some of these works are scheduled for either late nights or the weekends.
Where at all possible the Council will be seeking to avoid any on-carriage works before 9am on weekdays.
Councillor Wyse says there are already traffic issues in the area. He says almost ten thousand cars pass the area every week with huge delays at Powerscourt and despite changing the
traffic light system numerous times, it does not work because of the volume of traffic.
He says the completion of the outer Ring Road would be a huge benefit to the area. This he said would be a long term solution which needs Government funding.
