Cork Airport has been named “Best Airport in Europe (under 5 million passengers)” at the ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards 2025, held in Athens last night. This marks the third time Cork Airport has received the honour, having previously won in 2017 and 2019.

The award recognises Cork Airport’s success in areas like operations, sustainability, route development, and passenger growth. So far this year, Cork Airport has seen a 14% increase in passengers, making it Ireland’s fastest-growing airport.

Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI Europe, said:

“We are delighted that Cork Airport has won the Best European Airport in the under 5 million passengers category this year. The airport team has worked tirelessly to enhance efficiency, passenger experience, and sustainability. Their success is clearly reflected in rising connectivity and passenger numbers.”

An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, congratulated the team, saying:

“This is a prestigious honour for Cork Airport. It’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication of Niall MacCarthy and his team. I look forward to seeing the airport continue to flourish.”

Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director of Cork Airport, added:

“This award is a fantastic endorsement of the incredible people who make Cork Airport what it is. It reflects strong partnerships and the loyalty of our passengers. We’re proud to win it for a third time and remain committed to the South of Ireland.”

Kenny Jacobs, CEO of daa, also praised the team:

“It’s a huge recognition of the brilliant team on the ground. This award is not just for the airport – it’s for Cork, Munster, and Ireland. We have big plans for Cork, and this is a great boost.”

In 2024, Cork Airport welcomed 3.2 million passengers and is expected to exceed 3.4 million in 2025. This year, four new routes have launched to Corfu, Izmir, Bilbao, and Bordeaux, with SunExpress joining as a new airline partner.

Cork Airport has also led the way on sustainability, being named Best Performing Commercial Semi-State Body for Energy Reduction two years in a row by the SEAI.

In May, the Government announced a €200 million investment in Cork Airport’s future. The development will include a new mezzanine security floor, expanded duty-free shop, more gates, a new pier, and added parking — all aimed at supporting future growth beyond 5 million passengers.
