Convicted Waterford sex abuser Bill Kenneally is due to give evidence later on today (Tuesday) at a commission of investigation in Dublin.
It’s the first time that he will have given evidence in public before any official body either during his court cases or the commission.
The commission was set up in 2018 by the government to examine issues including the response by the Gardai, the South Eastern Health Board and Basketball Ireland to allegations against Kenneally.
It's examining knowledge of Kenneally's uncle, Monsignor John Shine, other members of the clergy and any political or public figures about offences committed by Kenneally who is currently serving jail time in Midlands Prison.
He is due to give public evidence today (Tuesday) and private evidence tomorrow (Wednesday).
It's expected the commission will have finished hearing evidence by the end of the month.
