The Irish Coast Guard were deployed to the Ursuline Court area of Waterford City last night.

Waterford River rescue were sent out following reports of a person entering the water on the river suir.

The River Rescue service liaised with members of An Garda Síochána before mobilising the Irish Coast Guard to assist with the search.

The deployment saw the coast guard unit operate around the area of Ursuline Court before moving towards the river Suir.

The search was stood down around 2am and the coast guard unit returned to its Waterford Airport base.
