Campaigners opposing plans for a major solar farm in the Clonea Power area have been granted leave for a judicial review.
An appeal was made against the decision by An Bord Pleanala to uphold Waterford City and Council's decision to grant conditional planning permission for BNRG's 141 hectare solar farm in the townlands of Bishopstown, Bridgetown, Ballyhest and Ballyneal.
There have been numerous public meetings in Clonea Power since plans for the solar farm were revealed, with the opposition being co-ordinated by members of the Clonea/Mothel Solar Farm Action Group who announced they would be seeking a judicial review.
Judicial Review is a mechanism by which an application can be made to the High Court to challenge the decision making processes of administrative bodies and lower courts.
Their case was heard this week in the High Court and they have been granted leave for their judicial review.
A spokesperson said: "This is great news for everyone in the locality and we would like to thank everyone for their continuous support."
