Clocks will spring forward this Sunday morning, marking the start of longer, brighter evenings.
The clocks will 'spring forward' by one hour at 1am. While we lose an hour in bed, we gain extra daylight to enjoy the evenings. There have been repeated calls for Daylight Saving Time - which came into effect here 110 years ago - to be ditched. However, many people remain in favour of the change. Many EU member States have blocked moves to have Daylight Saving Time retained all year round. Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly has been among those to call for "a new and realistic approach" to be adopted regarding Daylight Saving Time. Meanwhile, the world's largest public exhibition of cuckoo clocks has officially opened at Waterford's Irish Museum of Time. Housed in a specially-created wing of the museum, the exhibition aims to celebrate the craftsmanship of Germany’s Black Forest, where artistry and engineering combined to create the cuckoo clock. Visitors to the exhibition will encounter more than 400 cuckoo clocks, with many dating back to the 19th century.
