The threat of strike action by cleaning staff at University Hospital Waterford has been averted.

It's after more than 100 cleaning staff who are members of the UNITE trade union voted last night to accept proposals agreed at the workplace relations.

The dispute involved a number of issues regarding changes to payment systems.

Momentum took over the cleaning services contract at the hospital from ISS facilities in early September.
