Planning permission is being sought for the construction of almost 100 houses on the outskirts of Waterford City on the Lacken Road in Kilbarry.

An application was lodged with Waterford City and County Council earlier this week.

The homes are set to be a mix of 2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed units – while plans also include the construction of a creche facility.

A similar application was lodged two years ago for the same site, but was subsequently withdrawn before a decision was reached.

A decision on the new application from Rio Real Properties is expected on or before the 10th of September.
