Waterford’s Comeraghs Wild Festival is celebrating its tenth birthday in style across the first two weekends in July.
Events start with an open-air concert at Curraghmore House and Gardens on July 6th and conclude the following weekend with a Feast in the Forest featuring locally-sourced, fresh produce.
The tenth birthday celebrations begin on Saturday, July 6th, at Curraghmore with an open-air concert in the courtyard featuring The High Kings, Ceol and more.
The festival celebrations continue the following Thursday to Sunday, July 11th to 14th and will include a mix of activities in the mountains and in the sea, live music, dance and outdoor events celebrating the generations-old customs, history, culture and natural beauty of the Comeragh Mountains, Copper Coast and Nire Valley region.
Among the many highlights this year are a concert in Clonea Power Church featuring Lisa Hannigan, Gemma Hayes and Paul Noonan; the Nire Valley Drop and Gravel Bike Challenge MTB and off road cycling event; surfing at Bunmahon; hill and guided walks; music, singing and storytelling events, live music sessions and open-air dancing.
Festival spokesperson, Bernadette Drohan, said: “The Comeraghs Wild Festival has gone from strength to strength and our tenth birthday celebrations will be extra special. Tickets for our opening concert in Curraghmore are selling fast on Eventbrite and we’re extending the early bird ticketing over the coming days. It will be a magical evening in Curraghmore and we’ve limited ticket numbers to make it an extra special, intimate evening for all.
“We’re very thankful to our voluntary organising committee and to Waterford City & County Council for their support again this year. Tickets are now on sale for our events and as many are set in intimate venues with limited capacity to ensure everyone really enjoys the experience, we expect many of them to sell out very quickly. Many of our events sold out in record time last year.”
