Over 3,500 people are on a waiting list for cardiology services and appointments at University Hospital Waterford - according to the latest figures provided by the National Treatment Purchase Fund.
The latest figures from the NTPF show 3,526 people are currently on the waiting list for cardiology services.
In total, 49,515 people are awaiting appointments at UHW.
The vast majority of that number - 43,972 - are awaiting outpatient appointments.
A further 4,818 people are awaiting day-case treatment, and the waiting list for inpatient care is 456.
7,128 people are on lists for orthopaedic appointments while a further 1,251 are awaiting referrals for rheumatology.
3,282 people are also on the urology waiting list.
